mother’s day – Family Photographer Chicagoland {Tinley Park, IL}

Mother’s Day is “officially” just a week and a half away!  Nothing beats the excitement in my house of the kids FINALLY being able to give me that homemade gift as they light up handing it to me.  So I wanted to do something fun for all you Mom’s out there that follow my blog &  support my business!  I will be doing two give aways.  Yes TWO!!

The first give away will be on this Sunday – it is my daughter’s 9th birthday – the day I became a “mom”.  While those last two weeks waiting to meet our first child seemed forever, I remember saying you only have “X” days left to arrive to make my First Mother’s Day, as I was not due till the Thursday after Mother’s Day!!  However she arrived 9 days early and I had that little 7 pound bundle of pink in my arms on my first Mother’s Day at home!!  So in honor of the day I became a mom, I will be selecting one person to receive a special delivery next week just like I received my special delivery before mother’s day.  To win you must leave a comment on this post with the best piece of advice someone ever gave you about motherhood.

And here is my first picture as a mom – although I probably said back then how awful I looked as this was taken at 2am – I look at this picture now and this is how I see her today even though only 9 inches separates us height wise.

So subscribe to the blog – share it with others – but to win you must leave a comment on the blog by 11:59pm May 5th – so I can chose one name next Sunday to receive the special delivery!  Also if you have not purchased a Mother’s Day Gift – Gift Certificates are available and I am pretty sure that special mom, grandma, aunt or mom-to-be in your life would LOVE a picture session.  All gift cards purchased by May 10th will receive a $25 print credit!!!

Angelina - The best advice I have been given is to follow your instinct, and not to worry if you hurt feelings along the way…. Being a Mom, you know what’s best for your kids.
They couldn’t have been any more correct…

Patti - The one thing I’ve learned about being a mother is always trust what’s in your heart. Always listen to your kids and try to understand the little things that worry them. Be patient and make sure they know how important they are. Make time for what’s important in your life, hug your kids and tell them that you love them every day. Cherish every smile, every hug, the laughter, and the silliness. They will only be little for a short time and before you know it they’re all grown up and have their own lives. Life is short and you never know what tomorrow will bring. Happy Mother’s Day to all!!

Megan - Time goes too quickly; cherish the everyday moments.

Pat Mullin - in raising children, sometimes the days are long, but the years go quick, so enjoy the PRESENT, because it is truly a GIFT . . .

Beth - Learn to pick your battles. If your child wants to wear their pajamas to preschool…well then that just might be what they are wearing that day! Some things just aren’t really worth the fight.

Christina - Submitted by Tracy – “a child is a gift from god and a mothers toy to play with and teach them how to grow up to an adult.” I love my little Ella. I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday. Can still map every moment out of that day from your call to me at work down to the time I left the hospital. I am soooooo proud to be her godmother.

Laura - I had a great (and rare) opportunity on Wednesday to spend the day downtown with my boys and husband – no work, no school, no committments..just a day to do whatever we wanted in the City. It reminded me that being together as a family is the most important thing in the world. So, my advice comes from my husband who is always telling me to let go, relax, and have fun! The laundry and dishes can wait 🙂

Trisha - “trust your gut…….there is NOTHING like a Mother’s intuition”

Cathy - The best advice I received was to enjoy each and everyday with your children, as everyday is a blessing. Happy Mother’s Day to all!

Megan - A friend told me that on my death bed, I’d never think, “I wish I had cleaned my house more when my kids were growing up!” So true, and it’s so nice to take a step back every day and enjoy my kids at their stages, not stress about all the things I haven’t done that day.

susie piko - the best advice about being a mom came from dad. he said, “be like your mom, the best mother in the world”. he was right!

gina - People tell you all the time how fast they grow and to cherish the time. When you hear this you say to yourself yeah yeah I know, but you really can’t comprehend until later when they are nine and you ask yourself where has the time gone. All you want to do is bottle them up and ask them not to grow anyone in which they reply but I want to be like you! Don’t let the next years pass you by, take pictures, write journals together, and enjoy every moment………..because they grow so fast!

May 3, 2012 - 11:35 am

Sarah - Happy Mother’s Day! The best advice I have received about being a mom was “You already know what to do, just trust yourself.” Time and time again this proves to be true!
